Tsunami Advisory Remains in Place

for Santa Barbara County Coastal Areas

A Tsunami Advisory, issued by the National Tsunami Warning Center, remains in effect for the coastal areas. 

  • A Tsunami Advisory means that a tsunami is expected or occurring and may produce strong currents or waves dangerous to those in or near the immediate coastline.
  • Most beaches in Santa Barbara County are closed at this time. 
    • Rogue, higher than normal waves are still occurring and may continue until further notice. 
    • Residents are advised to stay out of the water and away from beaches and waterways.
  • Please help keep emergency lines open. Do not call 9-1-1 unless you are having an emergency.
