The City is conducting a brief traffic data collection effort along Hollister Avenue in western Goleta this week. As part of this work, temporary cameras have been installed at select intersections along Hollister Avenue between Storke Road and Cathedral Oaks Road. These cameras are used solely to count vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians in order to better understand how people currently travel through the corridor. The cameras are temporary and are mounted on existing street lights, traffic signs, or traffic signals. No permanent equipment is being installed.
The information collected will focus on understanding current and future traffic conditions, accommodating planned development in western Goleta, and identifying opportunities to improve safety and mobility for everyone who uses the corridor. Several nearby intersections have already been evaluated through previous data collection efforts, and this will help complete the overall picture.
The City appreciates the community’s cooperation.
