Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® Full-Service Shutdown 3/7-3/8

Bus Bridge Service Will Not Be Available During this Closure

Post Date:03/02/2026 4:33 PM

Due to track closures by Union Pacific, Metrolink, and NCTD both north and south of Los Angeles, Pacific Surfliner trains will not operate between San Diego and San Luis Obispo this weekend, March 7–8, 2026.

Please note that bus bridge service will not be available during this closure.

This closure is part of a coordinated effort by the host railroads along the LOSSAN corridor to complete critical track infrastructure projects, while reducing the overall impact on riders. Projects being advanced during the closure include:

  • Santa Barbara: Track bed and crossing work

  • Ventura: Track work and switch upgrades

  • Orange County: Track bed, crossing, and signal work, power pole replacements, as well as construction activities in support of the Orange County Coastal Rail Resiliency improvements

  • San Diego: Del Mar Bluff stabilization, capacity enhancements, and signal work.

The work is occurring concurrently in the various locations to reduce the number of future track closures and minimize the overall impact to passengers while making critical infrastructure improvements.

If you’re planning to travel this weekend, you are encouraged to make alternate arrangements as early as possible.

What to Expect:

  • No train service along the entire corridor.
  • No bus bridges will be provided. However, Amtrak Connection Bus routes will continue to operate.
  • Customers may modify their reservation for another date, or a refund will be issued by Amtrak.
  • Regular train service is scheduled to resume on Monday, March 9, 2026.
