We hope you will join us for the Goleta City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 19th at 5:30 p.m. (closed session begins at 4:00 p.m.). We encourage you to come in-person to Council Chambers, watch live, or participate via Zoom. Directions for how to do so can be found below.
Items on the agenda include:
- The City Manager will give an update on community activation events for the World Cup, of which Goleta is the host city for Team Austria. View the presentation here: https://tinyurl.com/5jkumztm.
- The City Council will proclaim May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month. When communities prioritize mental health, we expand access to care, strengthen connection, and make more good days possible for everyone. Community members are urged to share in the observance of Mental Health Awareness Month by making a personal commitment to raise awareness, combat stigma, and create a community that prioritizes mental well-being and seeking help when needed. - Council will also proclaim May 17 – 23 as Public Works Week. National Public Works Week was established in 1960 to energize and educate the public on the importance of the contribution of public works to their daily lives. As part of the City’s Public Works Week celebration, we would like to recognize our Public Works Department for their ongoing contributions to serving the public every day. Come show your appreciation to this group at our Public Works Week Celebration on May 20 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Camino Real Marketplace. The proclamation is available here: https://tinyurl.com/45ab5d8b.
- The Council will discuss the 2026 Development Impact Fee (DIF) Program Update. The fees are imposed on development projects to offset in whole or in part, the cost of new or additional public facilities caused by the development. Local Agencies are required to conduct and make public specific findings to ensure that the DIF’s purposes remain valid, the funds remain needed, and the fees still meet the reasonable relationship standards. In 2019, the City completed a Nexus Study Development Impact Fee Study. A draft DIF Update Plan was presented to the City Council on February 17, 2026. Based on input from Council, staff, and consultants, recommended maximum fees have been updated. DIF adjustments will be effective 60 days after adoption. - The Council will hold a workshop to review the City’s Operating and Capital Improvement Program budget for FY 26/27 and Comprehensive Capital Improvement Plan. This is a mid-cycle budget review to adjust the City’s two-year budget (FY 25/26 & 26/27) as needed for the upcoming fiscal year.
