Red Flag Warning Issued

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Santa Barbara County Southwestern and Southeastern Coast, Santa Ynez Mountains Western and Eastern Ranges, and the Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains, in effect from 12 pm Wednesday, July 15, through 9 am Thursday, July 16, 2026, due to hot temperatures, dry conditions and strong winds.

A Red Flag Warning indicates that critical fire weather conditions are occurring or will develop shortly. The combination of strong winds, dry fuels, low humidity, and warm temperatures can lead to rapid fire ignition and extreme fire behavior, threatening lives and property.

Forecast Details:

  • Wind: north to northwest winds of 20-30 mph, with gusts of up to 35-55 mph, strongest in sundowner wind-prone areas of southern Santa Barbara County
  • Humidity: as low as 10–25%
  • Affected times: Noon Wednesday through 9 am Thursday, July 16, 2026
