State Lease 421 Pier Repairs 05-17-10

Post Date:05/18/2010

Venoco completed the California State Lands Commission (CSLC) 2010 Annual Inspection of the Beachfront Lease Facility Piers 421-1 and 421-2 on Monday, May 17, 2010. Results of the inspection indicated continuing erosion and damage to the outer wall concrete on the south west corner of Pier 421-2. The erosion of the concrete outer wall is likely due to storm surf and tidal action over the previous winter and spring. The well on Pier 421-2 was plugged below the mudline (significantly below the base of the caisson) during the wall repair work completed in 2004. As such, the damaged wall section does not compromise the integrity of the well or present a significant risk to the environment at this time. Venoco is coordinating a repair plan with CSLC engineering staff and will notify the City of Goleta upon completion of the plans.
