Temporary Parking Restrictions Return for Areas of Goleta Over Halloween Weekend

Post Date:10/22/2019 9:02 AM

Halloween not only brings trick-or-treaters to areas of Goleta, but also extra visitors to Isla Vista. Once again, temporary parking restrictions will be in affect over Halloween weekend for certain areas of Goleta. City staff has worked collaboratively with local residents and law enforcement to ease the impacts of Halloween by implementing a successful parking permit program which began in 2014. The parking restrictions are for the Goleta neighborhoods closest to Isla Vista: University 1 and University 2 neighborhoods, including the Cannon Green Condominium complex. The boundaries are: Cannon Green Drive to the west, Hollister Avenue to the north, Storke Road to the east and Whittier Drive to the south.

Each household in the affected area will receive two parking permits in the mail by October 22. Parking restrictions are for the overnight hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, when most party-goers are expected to be in the area. With Halloween on a Thursday this year, the parking permits are valid for one more night than in previous years.

  • 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019, to 7:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2019
  • 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019, to 7:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019
  • 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019, to 7:00 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019

Parking restrictions are only in effect during the evening and overnight hours; daytime events at Girsh Park should not be impacted. Vehicles without permits will be cited and/or towed at the owner’s expense.
