The City of Goleta City Council seeks to recognize noteworthy contributions and achievements of individuals and organizations that benefit the Goleta community.
To Submit A Recognition Request:
Fill out a Recognition Request Form. A Recognition Request may also be made in writing to the Mayor and/or City Council.
- Once a Recognition Request is received, it is reviewed by the City Clerk's Office for conformity with the City’s Recognition Policy.
- If your request is in compliance, it is submitted to the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore for consideration. This process generally takes one week.
Recognitions may be given at a City Council meeting, presented at a community event, mailed to the recipient, or picked up at City Hall.
Types of Recognition:
An accommodation is the highest form of recognition awarded by the City Council. An accommodation may be used to acknowledge significant individual or group achievements or contributions to the Goleta community.
Call attention to a significant community event, service or program or highlight a special period of observance, celebration, or recognition for community, regional state or national occasions.
Certificates of Recognition
Acknowledges individual, group achievements or contributions to the community. Types of certificates that may be issued include: Commendation, Recognition, Appreciation, Accomplishment, In Memoriam, Acts of Heroism.
Letter from Mayor
Mayor has the authority to send a letter to acknowledge an individual or group when a formal recognition of the City Council is either not requested, necessary, or when difficult due to timing.
Acknowledge lasting and significant service to the City of Goleta such as an outgoing Councilmember, or an employee who is retiring from the City. Appropriate for visiting dignitary or to honor an individual who has made a lasting impact on the community. A City tile may be provided to an outgoing board member or commissioner who has provided two or more years of service to the City.
