With the passage of the Measure W2018 in November 2018, the salary of City of Goleta elected officials increased Council member salaries to 75% of the nonfamily household median income of City of Goleta residents, and the Mayor’s salary to 90% ($42,134 and $50,561 respectively, according to the US Census Bureau). The new salaries became effective December 2018 and will be adjusted annually December 2020.
The Mayor and Council members are also eligible for health insurance benefits and PERS (Public Employee Retirement Benefits). For health insurance, if anyone opts in, the City pays the premium. PERS is governed by State Law.
City Manager - Michelle Greene - $240,885 Annually
City Attorney (Contract) – Michael Jenkins - $156,000 Annually
Starting January 1, 2015, local public agencies are required to post or link to information on the annual compensation of their elected officials, officers and employees. Under existing law, cities and special districts are required to file an annual report with the State Controller’s Office identifying the annual compensation of their officers and employees. AB 2040 extends the law so that public agencies are required to also post the same information on their own websites.
