Goleta has been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. The City maintains around 6,000 street trees in addition to the trees located in the over 500 acres of Parks and Open Spaces.
The City's Public Tree Advisory Commission advises the City Council on issues related to the development and goals of the Goleta Urban Forest Plan. It is composed of five members who have an interest in or experience with urban forestry or landscaping. Members are elected to four year terms and meetings are held on an as-needed basis.
