The final plan and specifications were released for public construction bids in November of 2022, closing in December. JJ Fisher Construction, Inc was deemed the lowest qualified bidder, with contracts awarded March 21, 2023. Construction was set to begin in June 2023 with an anticipated completion date in mid-October when the project team was notified of a manufacturing delay that would significantly impact the completion of the Splash Pad.  To avoid portions of the popular park and valuable parking needlessly closed this summer with little to no construction happening, the decision was made to take down the project fence and resume the project operation late fall of 2023. Read the full press release here.

On October 20, 2020, the City Council will provide direction to confirm the design for the splash pad and for the support structure that will house all of the mechanical equipment for the operations. Once determined, the designers for this project, RRM Design group, will have the necessary information to develop the constructions documents. The Parks and Recreation Commission will develop a recommendation for City Council related to policies and operating procedures for the Splash Pad. It is anticipated that this work will begin in late 2021.
