Participation in the Program can be done on an individual basis, as part of an organization or a business!

What is needed?

• The City of Goleta can provide all the necessary equipment for your clean-up
• Site Lead for Park must be over the age of 18
• Park adoption needs a commitment of one (1) year minimum
  • Within the year, clean-must be scheduled, but can be flexible. (Ex: once a month, once every two (2) months, once a quarter, etc.
• All volunteers and participants must sign a waiver prior to participating in the program
• Children can participate but must be under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian

Safety is the number one priority of the Adopt-A-Park program. Since clean-ups take place without direct City of Goleta staff supervision, it is important for the Site Lead to meet with the Adopt-A-Park coordinator on safety rules and requirements prior to beginning your service.

The Site Lead will ensure that all participants are briefed on personal safety and have filled out a Waiver Form prior to participating in the clean-up. Below are some reminders for all participants!

• Wear gloves 
• Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes
• Bring adequate protection from the sun (sunscreen, hat, or visors)
• Stay hydrated
• Avoid areas where hazardous conditions exist such as roads, parking lots, bridges, construction sites and active work areas
• Do NOT attempt to collect hazardous materials such as syringes, car batteries or toxic chemicals
• Secure all bagged trash by placing them in or near existing trash containers for disposal

2. Fill out the inquiries form to express your interest in some of the available parks or join an existing group
3. The Adopt-A-Park Coordinator will contact you to discuss your involvement in the program
4. An onsite visit with the Adopt-A-Park coordinator will be scheduled to go over rules, logistics, safety, and answer any questions. The Coordinator will also bring all necessary documents for adoption and participation.
5. Once all documents have been submitted, the first clean-up date can be scheduled
