Evergreen Park Play Area
This project removed the existing outdated play structure and sand play area. New playground equipment and a new safety surface was installed.
The old play equipment was outdated and was in need of replacement. The play area was filled with sand rather than the safety surface that is standard today. Today’s safety surface is much more forgiving if a child falls, and it does not attract cats or get in the eyes the way sand does. The play options were also very limited with no ADA access. The improvements will provide new and diverse play options and will be ADA accessible.
Funding for this project was provided for through a combination of Proposition 40 and Roberti-Z’berg-Harris (RZH) Block grants.
The park was completed early and a ribbon cutting was held on September 19, 2012.
