The Community Relations/Public Information Officer division is a component of the City Manager’s Office with a goal to keep the community informed about what is happening in the City whether it be upcoming projects, programs, initiatives or activities. The division oversees and coordinates many events and programs dedicated to community outreach. The public outreach efforts are designed to enhance and foster a sense of community.

The City’s Community Relations division is the point of contact for all media inquiries. In an emergency, the PIO helps disseminate and coordinate vital information to ensure public safety.

The City's communicates across a number of platforms in order to reach as many people as possible.

  • The Monarch Press is the City’s online newsletter which is sent by email/text and also available on line at www.goletamonarchpress.com.  It provides information on City projects, programs and events.

Communications-Related Policies

The City of Goleta is committed to utilizing a variety of tools to communicate effectively with the media and the public. Due to the growing complexity and volume of City of Goleta communication activities, a comprehensive set of communication standards and procedures is necessary to track, monitor and assess messages that are being sent, and to identify additional communication tools needed to adequately inform the community.
