Councilmember - District 1

Councilmember Luz Reyes-Martin headshotLuz Reyes-Martín was elected to represent District 1 in the City's first by-district election in November 2022. District 1 encompasses Northeast Goleta and the Fairview area. Councilmember Reyes-Martín previously served as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2024.

Councilmember Reyes-Martín serves as the City’s representative to the following organizations:

  • Center for Urban Agricultural at Fairview Gardens
  • Central Coast Community Energy (CCCE)
  • Visit Santa Barbara Board of Directors 

She is the alternate for:

  • Regional Integrated Waste Management Reporting Authority
  • Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG)

She also sits on the following committees:

Luz Reyes-Martín proudly served on the Goleta Union School District Board for eight years prior to being elected to the City Council. She is passionately involved in the community.

Reyes-Martín has a Masters Degrees in land use planning and in public administration, and began her professional career working to support economic development and community programs at the city level. Later, she worked as the Executive Director of Public Affairs and Communications at Santa Barbara City College.

Reyes-Martín lives in Goleta with her husband and two young children.
