Description

The project will construct a new 101 overpass in West Goleta. A feasibility analysis to determine what the best location for this structure would be and what issues we are likely to encounter during design, permitting and construction has been completed.

Purpose and Need

There is a need for an additional 101 overcrossing in the western area of Goleta to improve traffic circulation. The City is severed down the middle by both HWY 101 and the railroad, leaving few options for getting from north to south and vice versa. Traffic congestion at the Storke/Hollister intersection could be greatly reduced in the future with the addition of another overcrossing. The project will also enhance pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

Funding Sources

Funding for this project has been a combination of the Goleta Transportation Improvement Program (GTIP) and Measure A funds.

The City is evaluating funding options for all project phases.

Current Status

This project is not currently in the Public Works Department Projects FY23/24 Work Program.
